Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh is an Egyptian resort city on the Red Sea coast, where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez. Covering 480 km² with a population of around 35,000, it is the largest city in the South Sinai Governorate. The city is home to resorts that draw visitors from all over the world and is renowned as one of the world's great diving centres, attracting both amateur and professional divers. It has an international airport, and the islands of Tiran and Sanafir lie off its coast. Its main areas include Ras Nasrani, Ras Um Sid, Ras Gamila, Ras Kanisa, Sharm El Maya and Nakhlet El Tal, alongside the Ras Mohammed National Park to the south, the Nabq Protected Area between Sharm and Dahab, and Naama Bay at the meeting point of Asia and Africa. The city boasts more than 200 hotels and resorts, as well as restaurants, cafés, shopping centres, entertainment parks, nightclubs and casinos.
